Dr Claasen is a Senior Lecturer in History at Massey University. He is coming to The Kauri Museum to talk to his book 'Fearless - the extraordinary untold story of New Zealand's Great War Airmen'.

'Fearless', developed as part of the First World War Centenary History Programme, is the first book ever to be written on the contribution of New Zealand’s airmen to military aviation in WWI.

Extremely well researched and full of amazing photographs, Dr Claasens’ book also tells personal stories taken from letters and diaries of individual men, including a local airman from Matakohe whose family home is just down the road from The Kauri Museum. It is easy to read without a lot of military references, concentrating on the fearless airmen of the title.

Come and meet Dr Claasen, then join us for light refreshments afterwards. There will be copies of Dr Claasen's book available for purchase.
