Rotorua’s Dawn Service will take place on ANZAC Day (Wednesday 25 April) at 5:45am. The service will be conducted by Te Arawa Maori Returned Services League Inc and take place at Ohinemutu.

5:45am: Gather at Ohinemutu
5:50pm: Parade march to Muruika Soldiers’ Cemetery (by St Faith’s Church)
6:00am: Dawn Service begins with a mihi (welcome) from Te Arawa Maori Returned Services League - Mr Henare Macown

Prayers: Reverend Tom Poata
ANZAC Dedication: Major Pita Anaru

Hymn: Aue Ihu by the Combined Schools Choir (Aue Ihu was sung by the 28th Māori battalion after many battles)

Guest Speaker: Warrant Officer Class 2 Bradley Foster, Australian Defence Force

The Dawn Service is expected to conclude at approximately 6:30am.

Following the Dawn Service the ANZAC Day Parade will depart from Memorial Drive at 9am, and make its way to the Southern Trust Sportsdrome (Queen’s Drive, Government Gardens) where Rotorua’s Civic Memorial Service will begin at 9:30am.

Please be aware of the following road closures in place for ANZAC Day (Wednesday 25 April):
*Memorial Drive at the lakefront will be closed from 8am to 10am.
*People driving to the Southern Trust Sportsdrome are encouraged to avoid the Princes Gate entrance to Government Gardens and instead enter past Polynesian Spa and take the road behind Rotorua Museum and the Energy Events Centre, or arrive before 9am.
