Come and learn how to make harakeke (flax) crosses with the kids in this free craft activity hosted by Rotorua Museum.

The Dolores Cross Project is an initiative that began in April 2008 to pay tribute to the approximately 30,000 New Zealand military personnel buried on foreign soil.

The team from Rotorua Museum will be based at Te Rūnanga Tea House (Government Gardens) on Monday 23 and Tuesday 24 April and again on Thursday 26 and Friday 27 April from 10am until 3pm to teach you how to make the crosses. (On ANZAC Day -Wednesday 25 April - they will based out of The Arts Village from 10am – 2pm)

During week one of the holidays Rotorua Museum will be running free drop-in crafts between Monday 16 and Friday 20 April. Kids can make a cool crown to wear home and do some fun colouring sheets from 10am until 3pm at Te Rūnanga Tea House.

You might also like to grab one of our Activity Trails that will have you searching Government Gardens and learning some cool facts about the history of the area. Activity trails will be available from Saturday 14 April and can be collected from Rotorua iSite (Fenton Street) or from Te Rūnanga Tea House during drop-in crafts (16-20 April & 23-24 & 26-27 April 2018, 10am-3pm). All entries need to be in by 5pm on Sunday 29 April 2018 to be in to win great prizes.
