Red sprites are upper atmospheric optical phenomenon associated with thunderstorms that have only recently been documented using low level television. The blink of an eye lasts 250 milliseconds: sprites often only last ten. Before their discovery, sprites were considered UFOs by pilots.
Since 2001, Canadian born multi-media artist and filmmaker Peter McLeish has been involved in a collaboration based on Red Sprites with American scientist Walter A.Lyons.
