On Wednesday 2nd May, Kaikoura Museum and NCTIR are hosting a series of talks at the museum about archaeology and the Kaikoura coast.

The archaeology of the area represents the enduring connections local communities have with the past, and the coast is considered by archaeologists to be among the richest and most interesting parts of the country.

The talks will include an introduction to archaeology, how the earthquake has affected archaeology, and how NCTIR is managing the impact of the works on local heritage. A brief history of whaling and the whaling stations in Kaikoura will be included, and the speakers may field questions from the audience.

Part of the nationwide NZAA Archaeology Week programme, this free event will be held at 6pm on Wednesday 2 May at the Kaikoura Museum.

Please book through reception as seating limited.
