Enjoy a pictorial display and stories of early Dalmatian life in the city.

In the early 20th century the area west of Queen Street became a kind of 'Little Dalmatia', with dozens of businesses and homes belonging to immigrants from Dalmatia (the Adriatic coast of Croatia).

Boarding houses, barbers, chemists, dairies, delicatessens and men's outfitters sprang up along Hobson, Victoria and Federal streets. It became a thriving community with two cultural clubs.

Where the casino now stands was the centre of a circle with a significant population of early Dalmatian migrants and their families.
