Cellists of Otago will put Dunedin on the international map of the Bach in the Subways' movement, founded by cellist Dale Henderson of New York City.

Musicians around the world celebrate Bach in the Subways' by offering performances in public spaces and concerts open to all to celebrate Johann Sebastian Bach’s 333rd birthday on 21 March.

Cellists of Otago, the Dunedin based cello ensemble comprising 12 cellists, directed by Heleen du Plessis, will join the worldwide phenomenon by performing a 30-minute programme of works by this legendary composer in four public spaces for free between 24 and 25 March:

“Bach at Toitū Otago Settlers Museum”, Saturday 24 March at 2pm, “Bach at the Dunedin Railway Station”, Saturday 24 March at 3pm and “Bach in the Meridian Mall Food Court”, Saturday 24 March at 4:30pm.

Individual performances of solo works for cello will take place at 3pm in the St Paul’s Cathedral on Sunday 25 March.
