Barn Dance On Historic Island

When:

Sat 17 Nov 2018, 6:00pm–11:00pm

Where: Quarantine Island/KamauTaurua, Kaitiaki of Quarantine Island/Kamau Taurua, Dunedin, Otago

Restrictions: All Ages

Listed by: dries1981

Join us for a fun evening of dancing and laughter!

The dance will go from about 7 – 10pm with Catgut and Steel as our wonderful musicians/callers. No dancing experience necessary as the musicians 'call' the instructions. Knowing your left from your right is helpful but not essential!

There are several boat options from both sides of the harbour, so you can come just for the dance, or earlier in the day for our open day.

The dance will take place in a restored historic building (1873), the 'Married Quarters', which dates from when the island was used as a quarantine station - a very special setting for the dance!

6pm, pick up from the Portobello Pontoon on the Albatross Express. Return, leaves the Island at 11.15pm.

6.30pm, pick up from Careys Bay on the Albatross Express. Return, leaves the Island at 10.45pm

What to bring:
- warm clothing and sturdy footwear
- a plate to share for supper
- something to drink. We’ll provide Fairtrade tea and coffee. Low-moderate consumption of your own alcoholic beverages is fine (bring your own glasses).
- a torch to help you safely find your way along paths in the dark

Boat and dance is $30pp, or $20 for a child. Additional donations are always welcome as these prices just cover costs. We always try to keep things affordable for people with low incomes.
