Does Bill Manhire need an introduction? A widely recognised writer, he was New Zealand's inaugural Poet Laureate (1997) and has authored and edited many books of poetry and fiction. He also founded the International Institute of Modern Letters at Victoria University.

Be ready for an afternoon of memory and mortality, art and beauty, humour and joy. Bill Manhire will read from his latest book, 'Some Things to Place in a Coffin' (2017) titled from his elegy for Ralph Hotere, and ‘Known Unto God’, commissioned by the Imperial War Museum, London.
