Parents, grandparents, whānau - are the children in your car safe?
Most children are restrained when in a vehicle but experts report that around 80% of the restraints used are not installed correctly or are not appropriate for the child. The Cheeks in Seats charity; supported by the NZ Police, Upper Hutt City Council, Belt Up Automotive and Porirua Motors are holding two Car Seat Check Clinics on Saturday 5 May.
One clinic is at the Royal NZ Police College 9am - 12pm and the other is in the Upper Hutt City Council car park behind the council buildings 1:30pm - 4pm. Qualified restraint technicians will carry out free child restraint checks and make any necessary adjustments. Mechanics will be on-hand to install anchor bolts if needed. All of this for free. No bookings necessary.
