After a successful event in its inaugural year in 2017, the Caroline Boyd Memorial Walk/Run is back for 2018!

This year, we offer a similar set of activities - a 10km run, and a 5.5 km walk or run on the same course.

This event celebrates the life of Caroline Boyd, a resident of both Wellington and Paekakariki, who was tragically killed in an accident on Wellington Road, Paekakariki on 19th March 2017.

Caroline Boyd ran almost everyday of her life from the age of 15, and participated regularly in 10km and half-marathon events. This course follows the run that Caroline used to do through Queen Elizabeth Park.

For more information and to enter, visit https://www.enteronline.co.nz/index.cfm?page=EventDetails&ID=5334 (if not already registered, you will need to register on this system).

The event starts from the beach opposite Paekakariki Memorial Hall, at 98 The Parade at 11.30am. The course finishes at the entrance to Queen Elizabeth II Park, off Wellington Rd.

Proceeds will be donated to the Caroline Boyd Memorial Fund which is an endowment fund under the registered charity, the Nikau Foundation. The fund will seek advancement of initiatives close to Caroline's heart:
- Youth - supporting young people, in particular their educational needs
- Women - addressing issues affecting women
- Local Community - supporting local community networks and activities

Last year $3000 was donated to the Paekakariki School to pay for extra curricular activities. This year, the fund stands at just over $45,000 and we aim to build the fund to $75,000 which means it can be established in perpetuity. Once again this year, the family will contribute $1 for every $1 raised through this event.
