All the way from London, British Comedian Charmian returns to the Fortune Theatre with a brand-new show. Last year Charmian visited New Zealand for the first time with 2017 Dunedin fringe hit ‘Charmian Hughes-Soixante Mirth’. She is Thrilled to be back! This time she invites you on a comedy quest that will boldly go, climb every mountain and uplift humanity in that universal search for the perfect fit in Life’s great puzzle. Do you ever feel the world is the wrong size or you never quite understood the rules? Maybe we just started off with the wrong instructions at birth – do we need to write new ones? All those myths and fairy tales, old ones and modern ones, we thought made sense of the world, were they actually made to mislead us and get us to accept the status quo? Maybe it’s time to bust out! And make our own stories.

‘A class above other stand ups – a great entertainer not to be missed!’ (Dominion Post);

‘A joy!’ (Scotsman);

‘Funny poignant profound’ (NZ TheatreView);

‘Four stars!’ (Funny Women ).

Charmian has been doing her comedy since 1987 when she ran away from the circus to become a stand-up comic after breaking the vow of Mime Silence. She has played throughout the UK comedy Circuit, in the UK houses of parliament, and even in a top security prison. She has taken seven solo shows to the Edinburgh Festival, and in 2017 performed at the Dunedin, Auckland and New Zealand fringes. She has compered the Glastonbury Festival several times and is a Comedy Award Nominee.

‘The best gags’ The Independent (UK);

‘Charming ribaldry’ The Guardian (UK);

‘Like Josie Long’s mum’ Chortle.
