Renowned concert pianist Diedre Irons and NZ Symphony Orchestra's principal cellist, Andrew Joyce join us as part of our opening celebrations.

Diedre Irons is one of New Zealand’s most distinguished pianists. Born in Winnipeg, Canada, she made her debut with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra at the age of 12 playing the Schumann Piano concerto.

Since moving to New Zealand in 1977, Diedre has performed regularly with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, the Auckland Philharmonia and the Christchurch Symphony. She has toured many times under the auspices of Chamber Music New Zealand, and recorded extensively for Radio New Zealand.

Born in Norwich, England, Andrew Joyce is currently Section Principal, Cello in the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. He has performed in masterclasses with the late Bernard Greenhouse, Alexander Baillie, David Geringas, Alexander Rudin, Natalia Gutman, Karine Georgian, Leonid Gorokhov, the Takacs Quartet and the Kopelman Quartet.

- Beethoven’s Sonata in C major Op. 102 No. 1,
- Schumann’s Fünf Stücke im Volkston Op. 102
- Rachmaninoff Sonata in G minor Op. 19
