A public speaking event which will provide research based, current dietary advice and information regarding the link between nutrition and cancer, to the Manawatu community. Professor John Potter will include simple lifestyle recommendations that people can utilise to reduce their risk of developing cancer, especially bowel cancer.

Doors open at 6.30pm and Professor Potter's talk will start at 7pm. Then there will be an interview with Professor Potter, followed by a Q & A session.

A light supper will be provided, proudly supported by Wholegrain Organics and New World Aokautere.

John D Potter MBBS PhD is Professor at Massey University Centre for Public Health Research and Chief Science Advisor, Ministry of Health; and Senior Advisor, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and Professor Emeritus of Epidemiology, University of Washington, both in Seattle, USA. His career is focused on nutrition, other environmental and host factors, and genetics in the aetiology, pathobiology, and early detection of cancers and other chronic diseases. This has recently broadened to planetary health, especially in relation to diet and environmental degradation. He is author/co-author of more than 700 scientific papers, chapters, and books, most recently Thought for Food (Bridget Williams Books, Auckland, 2018).
