Author Catherine Knight will take the audience on a journey into the Manawatū's environmental past, aided by the extraordinary photographs of Charles E. Wildbore.

Wildbore was a Pohangina farmer, apiarist and father of 13 - but is most remembered today for his photographs of the Pohangina Valley at a time of monumental environmental change. What do these photographs tell us about our collective past, and do they also hint at a future in which the totara forest again thrives in the Manawatū?

Catherine will draw on her books Wildbore: A photographic legacy (Totara Press) and Ravaged Beauty: An environmental history of the Manawatū. This event marks the release of a new edition of the award-winning Ravaged Beauty, published by Totara Press.

Wildbore: A photographic legacy (RRP $29.99) and Ravaged Beauty: An environmental history of the Manawatū ($49.99) will be available for sale on the night.

Speaker: Catherine Knight
