Join us for a fun family volunteer day, celebrating Seaweek and Children’s Day and get a 40% volunteer discount off your ferry tickets!

With the help of Sustainable Coastlines we will be hosting a beach clean-up to keep our coastline beautiful; many hands make light work – even little ones! All volunteers will receive important health & safety info and collect reusable rubbish sacks and gloves.

We’ll give advice on the best clean-up spots around the island. After you’re done, you will return with your coastal trash so we can dispose of it properly and reward your efforts with a sausage sizzle.

Day Plan:
- 8:45am: Ferry departs Auckland (Pier 3-4), via Orapiu (Waiheke)
- 10am: Arrive on Rotoroa, short welcome and biosecurity check.
- 10:20am: Meet at the Visitor Centre for a Family Day briefing and then head off on a 1 hour guided walk with an Auckland Zoo keeper introducing you to the island as a predator free wildlife sanctuary.
- Lunch: Bring a picnic to share with your family.
- 1pm: Meet at the Visitor Centre for a Sustainable Coastlines 'Love Your Coast' Presentation and a quick health & safety briefing before you begin your coastal clean-up work at 1:30pm.
- 3:30pm: Sausage sizzle for all volunteers outside the Visitor Centre.
- 5:15pm: Ferry departs Rotoroa arriving at 6:30pm in downtown Auckland.

- Carry food in sealed, rodent proof plastic containers and take your rubbish home
- Check your footwear is clean and that there is no soil or seeds in laces or treads
- Leave your bicycle at home and if you're bringing a buggy, make sure your tyre treads aren't packed with dirt or insects
