350 Aotearoa is pleased to announce, this coming May, the ‘Fossil Free Acceleration Tour’ with author, educator, and environmentalist, Bill McKibben.

Ever since the release of his first book ‘The End of Nature’ 30 years ago, Bill McKibben has become one of the world’s most notable commentators on climate change. He is a founder of, a 2014 recipient of the Right Livelihood Prize, sometimes called the ‘alternative Nobel’, and is a founding fellow of the Sanders Institute.

The Fossil Free Acceleration Tour will engage with local communities and movements here in Aotearoa on building a fast and just transition to a world powered by 100% renewable energy for all. The Fossil Free campaign began in 2012, as a powerful movement of citizens around the world working to build a future that is free from the destructive impacts of climate change, and free from the massive, out-of-control corporations that caused it.

In January 2018, Bill McKibben was instrumental in New York City’s motion to sue five major energy companies for damages from climate change, and their decision to divest US$5billion from fossil fuel projects. Following this success, he is now making his way to Aotearoa on his global Fossil Free Acceleration Tour.

350 Aotearoa have already had success in leveraging our power where it’s most effective — we’ve lobbied our universities, banks and councils to pull funding from fossil fuel projects and cut institutional ties with this industry. We are excited for the opportunity to welcome Bill McKibben and accelerate the fossil free movement here in Aotearoa.

If you cannot make it to these centres, live-streamed events are scheduled for across the country -see our facebook for more details.

350 Aotearoa understand that we have a responsibility for ensuring a safe, dignified, and welcoming environment for everyone. If you have any questions or concerns regarding accessibility to this event please contact
