Friends of Rotorua Museum are hosting a special garden tour of talented local sculptor Trevor Nathan. Located on his 2 hectare property in Tikitere, you will have the chance to view his unique gallery and sculpture garden featuring his work as well as that of other New Zealand artists.

This free event will take place on Sunday 18 November 2018 at 3pm at Trevor Nathan’s sculpture garden located at 105b State Highway 30, Tikitere, Rotorua.

Trevor started his working life as a brush-trained sign writer, but when the design element of this work was largely taken over by computers he enrolled in an art & design diploma course at Waiariki Institute of Technology (now Toi Ohomai).

He found his new direction and has been sculpting full time since 2003, working with a variety of hard and soft stone and wood.

In 2011 his interest turned to working with reclaimed native timbers and he likes to introduce colour and texture into the wood pieces. This gives a strong design element which harks back to his brush-work and paint history.

He and his family moved to the Tikitere property in 2012 and established the gallery and garden alongside the studio from which he runs classes.

Trevor will be taking part in this year’s Rotorua Sculpture Symposium (17-25 November), of which he was the winner when it last ran in 2016.
