Gitbox Rebellion comes to town.

This month brings a Friday one night festival of guitar legends at Titirangi Theatre as Gitbox Rebellion come to town with special guest support from songstress Catherine Tunks.

Gitbox Rebellion is an innovative and exciting 10 piece guitar ensemble, founded by legendary guitar virtuoso Nigel Gavin. Gitbox perform intricate and clever original compositions as well as much loved guitar hero covers, such as The Good, The Bad and The Ugly and Guitar Boogie.

Members include Kim Halliday, Russell Hughes and Bodi Hermans and are joined by Peter Kirkbride, Tomislav Skulic, Sam Loveridge, Sonia Wilson, Rob Mita and Joanne Melbourne.

The groups experience ranges from Beginners to Advanced players, with unique skills to create a dimension of sound that is both a joy to listen to and a curiosity to view live, ideal for our beautiful little theatre.

Under the guidance of Nigel Gavin, a NZ musical icon and master of unique guitar performance, Gitbox is the only Guitar Orchestra in NZ. The ensemble has released 2 albums of acclaimed guitar performance along the way, (Pesky Digits and Touchwood) recorded in the 1990’s. Gavin reformed the group in 2017 with 6 new members joining the founding members Gavin, Halliday, Hughes, and Hermans.

Catherine (cat) Tunks is well known as an International songwriter and performer of original alt country, blues gospel and jazz - and will be performing this time in the support role with another local guitar legend, Gavin Dowling - rounding off a superb night of world-class musicianship.

The concert starts at 8pm, tickets are available at www.eventfinda.co.nz
Bar opens 7pm
