Debra Lampshire is a senior tutor with the Centre for Mental Health Research and Policy Development at the University of Auckland. She is also chairperson for International Society for Psychological and Social Approaches to Psychosis (ISPS) New Zealand.

At the age of 17, Debra was committed to the former Kingseat Psychiatric Hospital having episodes of psychosis including hearing voices. She was in mental health care for 30 years, 18 of those in institutional care. She then began to take charge of her own recovery and has transferred her own experience to educate others.

Debra has co-authored scientific papers and co-edited the book Experiencing Psychosis.

Debra completed an inspiring TED talk in Tauranga in 2017 where she shared her journey with openness and honesty and she has also shared her experiences within the Attitude TV series

Join us in Christchurch for a workshop facilitated by Debra Lampshire to educate, support and assist workers or supporters to better understand the hearing voices or altered realities experiences.

There will be an additional heavily subsidised workshop on Saturday 28th July for people who have lived experience of hearing voices or altered realities to attend along with a supporter. This is particularly helpful for people looking to better understand their distressing voices.

Any funds raised through this event supports the Realities peer support group in Christchurch.
