Helen Dorothy & delivers sparkling and intimate performances with her unique voice and expressive guitar work. Her latest album is considered “perfect late-night listening for grown-ups” by UK Roots Magazine. At Kumeu-Live, she will be accompanied by PLot, the gloriously groovy combination of Paul and Lott! Together they will be embarking on a musical mission to engage, enthral, amuse, delight, and move the audience.

A guest performer at a variety of acoustic music venues around the country over the last decade, she has opened for NZ’s mighty Paul Ubana Jones, and featured in last year’s Nelson Arts Festival and Wellington Folk Festival.

Darlene Te Young & The Common Cause
Words always await another voice. What we call the beginning is often the end, and the end is where we start from. There is no before and after, just now. Five musicians ply this conscious occupation where last seasons musical fruit is eaten, roles are reversed and restored by a refining fire. Touched by a common genius and united in strife at this dark time of the year, they use their soothing voices and instruments to create a glare that is blindness in the late Kumeu afternoon.

Darlene & Michael Te Young, Guy Wishart, Vernon Rive and Andrew Bell are seasoned musicians who do not cease from exploration, and the end of all their exploring is to arrive where they started, and know the place for the first time. Join them as they escort you through the unknown remembered musical gates of the past, revealing a much needed common cause through husks of sonic meaning.
(Much gratitude to T.S. Eliot, Cowboy Junkies, Dave Stewart, War on Drugs, The Youngbloods, Aimee Mann etc)
