Do you know a budding young singer/songwriter keen to make it in the music industry? Make sure they don’t miss this one time opportunity to work with one of New Zealand’s most successful singer/songwriters.

Jon Toogood, primarily recognised as Shihad’s lead singer & guitarist, has been performing for over 30 years. During Shihad’s career, they have produced five #1 studio albums, holding the title for most #1 records for any New Zealand artist.

During this workshop, you will be focusing on songwriting techniques and skills required to write a successful song. During this time, you will also learn about New Zealand’s music industry. This will be in a relaxed learning environment within a small group, where you are able to ask Jon questions.

There is no cost for this workshop (what!?). Thanks to Napier City Council and Creative Communities, we were able to access some funding. Thanks Napier City Council!

All you need to do is simply RSVP to Annabelle (Managing Director of Napier Music Academy) at:
annabelle@napiermusicacademy.co.nz and make sure you list the following things:
- Full name
- Age
- School you attend
- Parent(s) contact details (Name, email & mobile)
- What instrument you play

- Any performing experience
- Why you would like to work with Jon Toogood

Criteria:
You must already have experience singing and/or playing an instrument (2+ years), writing songs and must be aged between 14-19.

It’s possible we will get more than 10 students applying for this workshop. In this case, we will look at each application carefully and choose the 10 students that will benefit most from the workshop.
