From the ashes of the Somnium (Lōemis 2017), emerges Seraphina.

Seraphina, the messenger, the bringer of birth, death, and rebirth. This being is part of the cosmic fire of creation. She sits here before you to bring you peace and nurture your dreams.

Take time to write down that which you wish to be gone and feed it to the cavity in her stomach. For her nest, place into her egg that which you wish to build anew, for she will nurture them.

When the solstice arrives on June 21 see Seraphina light up the sky with flames, and rejoice in the cycle of life. Seraphina sets fire to everything you thought you were and then begins to learn who you are.

Seraphina designed by Leda Farrow and assisted by Jen Eccles.
Built by Jen Eccles, Leda Farrow, Andrew Laking and an army of volunteers!

Seraphina can be viewed daily at Wellington Central Library from June 6 - 20. Note paper and pencils provided.

Seraphina begins her final Solstice Ritual passage outside the Central Library at civic square on the night of the winter solstice at 5:30pm on Thursday June 21. Arrive early, get your face painted, dress up in warm clothes, bring a mask, or just come along for the journey.
