Songs from the Parisian Belle Epoch.

The lyric soprano Laetitia Grimaldi and pianist Ammiel Bushakevitz present songs from "La Belle Epoque", a period in the late 1800s and early 1900s when poets, painters and composers met in the celebrated salons of Paris to share their art.

Their enchanting programme includes romantic French songs by Fauré, Gounod, Cantaloube, Duparc, Delibes and others, as well as piano solos by Liszt, all in the style of a Parisian salon concert.

Born in France, Laetitia Grimaldi spent her childhood in Lisbon and London. After beginning her vocal studies with Teresa Berganza, she continued her studies in New York City, graduating with a Masters degree from the Juilliard School of Music.

Since her debut in the Carnegie Hall of New York in 2013, Laetitia Grimaldi has sung in many renowned halls and opera stages and music festivals worldwide. She has won many awards, most recently first prize at two renowned international vocal competitions in France and Canada. Laetitia has appeared in many opera productions internationally, including at the Verbier Festival and at the Kennedy Centre of Washington DC.

Recent and upcoming performances include extensive recital tours in China, Mexico and South Africa and concerts throughout Europe, the USA, Canada and Brazil.

Ammiel Bushakevitz was born in Jerusalem and raised in South Africa. He has been awarded the best pianist prize at numerous prestigious song competitions. Other awards include first prizes at the International Schubert Competition in Stuttgart and the International Johannes Brahms Competition in Austria. Ammiel performs regularly at notable venues across Europe, North America, Africa, Asia and Australia.

One of the last private students of the late Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, he was invited in 2011 by Fischer-Dieskau to accompany his masterclasses in Berlin and at the Schwarzenberg Schubertiade in Austria. Ammiel has also worked with other notable singers including Thomas Hampson, Elly Ameling, Matthias Goerne, Thomas Quasthoff, Barbara Bonney, Dame Felicity Lott, Brigitte Fassbaender and Teresa Berganza. He has released seven solo recordings to critical acclaim and five-star reviews.

Tickets will be available for this concert at Waikanae New World, at the Kapiti i-site in Paraparaumu and at Moby Dickens Books in Paraparaumu Beach. Door sales will be available.
