Want to try something new? Make new friends? Have a New Years resolution to get fit and have fun doing it? Come and try Japanese Taiko Drumming!

We're having an open day where you can come learn Taiko! No drumming or music experience necessary. Beginners and all ages welcome! Donation entry.

Taiko is a dynamic art form originating from ancient Japan. Taiko are a broad range of Japanese percussion instruments, and refers to taiko ensemble drumming called kumi daiko. Modern Japanese taiko drumming, combines music and dance to inspire and delight audiences.

Narukami Taiko is a Japanese taiko drum team in Wellington NZ. We are looking for new members to join our group! We teach classes in Wellington, and we have spaces in our beginner classes.

Please note: Our classes for Term 1 2018 start Sunday 21st and Thursday 25th and run for 10 weeks.

In this Open Day, you will learn what we will be teaching in the first classes, so you don't have to make a decision on joining us right away. Alternatively, you can sign up anytime from now by emailing us.

Please bring earplugs as it can get a little loud. You can get disposable ear plugs with a donation.

Current classes open to beginners are:
Sundays 6 - 8pm at Aro Valley Community Centre starting 21/01/18
Thursdays 6 - 7:50pm at Newtown Working Mens Bowling Club starting 25/01/18

(Class ends 10 mins earlier as no pack up required).

What to bring:
Water bottle. Earplugs (available with donation). If you are bringing young children, please bring ear protection for them.
