This June, Elmwood Players continue their 70th anniversary season with Leaves of Glass, a rich, complex play about two brothers and the hold the past and their memory has on them.

Every family has a skeleton in the closet. Steven is the head of a successful graffiti removal company, and Barry is his younger brother who works for him while struggling to earn an income or recognition from being an artist.

Both are haunted by the death of their father, a failed writer and reluctant family man who went missing and was discovered drowned. The detail of these traumatic events are disputed by the pair, and for years they have been unwilling to talk about and come to terms with it, and the dark secrets that accompany it.

“A turgid psychodrama about a family that would rather skin itself alive than talk about its shared guilt and grief.” - Variety

“A deeply human drama that shifts between elegy for the past and a chilling exploration of the power of loss and grief. Not easy to watch, but constantly riveting.” - Amazon

“...Like a shard of glass plunged straight into the heart.” - The Guardian

Leaves of Glass proves once again Elmwood Players’ commitment to producing a variety of high quality theatre, specifically programmed to cover multiple genres, and catering for their loyal fanbase.
