Buddhist philosophy's focus is understanding the nature of the mind and in doing so understand the nature of where our suffering comes from and how we have the ability to change this.

We all want happiness. All sentient beings want happiness. However when we look outside for that happiness does it come?

The title of the book 'A Letter to a Friend' by Nagajuna, was written as instructions to a leader, at that time a King. It was written to assist leaders understand how they, you, can benefit others based on or in relation to spiritual principles.

The Tuesday night Tibetan Buddhist philosophy classes will be following this text to introduce what is known as the 'Mahayana Path', which is based on how to benefit all living beings; depending on the individual, show how to have a happy life and change the state of suffering to one of happiness. To understand the cyclic existence and negativity and why, how cultivating compassion and wisdom is essential.

Venerable Geshe Nyima Dorje will be teaching this text.

Geshe Nyima Dorje lives and reside in Christchurch, originally from Tibet, he spent over twenty years studying and graduating from the worlds largest Tibetan Buddhist Monastery, Sera Jey Monastic University in India.
