Blues ‘power-house’ Lloyd Spiegel returns to NZ in 2018

Australian bluesman Lloyd Spiegel brings his high energy solo show back to New Zealand in 2018. As part of his North Island tour he’ll be coming for the first time to Gisborne with a new show, new tales and 2 new albums. He’ll be playing Dome Cinema, Gisborne, on Wednesday 1st August.

Spiegel's incredible command of the guitar and powerful stage presence is a must see for blues and guitar fans alike and those who just love to be ‘entertained’.

"A revelation, the consummate performer, an Oz Blues & Roots icon.” – (Rolling Stone)

Spiegel is ALL presence, authority, rhythm and drive. He epitomizes control, soul and passion with white hot ferocity and blazing instrumental mastery, dangerous enough to spark a destructive inferno (Terry Riley, The Age, Melbourne)

A touring artist since age 11, with frequent visits to the USA, Europe, Canada and Japan, Lloyd has a unique story to tell and blends jaw-dropping guitar playing with powerful songwriting, comedy and storytelling, delivering a show that's truly on the cutting edge of the blues genre and a concert experience like no other.

The 7 time Australian Blues Award winner is a trailblazer in his genre and one of his country's most recognised guitarists, recently being named in Australian Guitar Magazine's list of the 50 greatest Australian guitarists of all time.

His 2017 release, 'This Time Tomorrow' debuted on the ARIA independent chart at #4 and held the #1 place on the Australian Blues Chart for 3 months. The CD picked up Australian Blues Awards for artist and album of the year and Victorian Blues Awards for song, album and solo artist of the year.

His 10th release, 'Beaten Tracks' is a hard edged, personal and brutally honest account of Spiegel's touring life. It's a return to his gutbucket roots but through the eyes of a more mature artist. 'Beaten Tracks is set for release May 15.

"A guitarist almost without peer, Spiegel deconstructs how the blues guitar is supposed to operate, makes sweet love to it, then kicks it out the back door" - Australian Guitar Player Magazine.

We’re set for a ‘powerhouse’ night with Lloyd Spiegel on Wednesday 1st August Dome Cinema, Gisborne, pre-sales $20 on Eventfinda ( or from Aviary PBC - cash only), door sales $25, doors from 7.00pm, show from 7.30pm.
