Once again this year, Alliance Française Christchurch is proud to bring the Fête de la Musique to Christchurch! This celebration of music is successfully held across 5 continents and 120 countries, every single year.

Also known as Make Music Day, Fête de la Musique is a music celebration that takes place on the 21st of June and originated in France in 1982. Fête de la Musique aims to celebrate all genres of music and to make it accessible to all by encouraging amateur performers to play music outside in their neighbourhoods or in public spaces and parks, and by organising free concerts where musicians play for fun and not for payment.

The event, which is usually celebrated during the French summer solstice will be adapted for the Christchurch winter, Alliance Française Christchurch is moving to Fat Eddie's Jazz bar and brings Julia Paul to the South Island! Supporting bands will be playing before Julia Paul. Come along and dance away the night!

About the band:
Julia Paul’s trio brings together 3 highly talented artists from different musical backgrounds. With her distinctive vocal timber characterized by its depth, warmth and energy, Julia demonstrates a strong artistic identity. Her lyrics, both in French and English, reflect upon her life, her roots and her love for New Caledonia.

Versatile musicians by training, David and Johan, Julia’s band members, make the best of their classical and jazz background to create a unique blend of future soul.

A real treat for all music buffs, the band loves to play all the instrumentations live with no pre-recorded electronic sequences. Newbies will not notice while music experts will enjoy the sound of live music being rearranged live.
