Selwyn Community Education is based at Selwyn College, Kohimarama, Auckland.

This course will run on Monday 23 April 2018 10am - 4pm with technology teacher Melvin Din.

Choose from either a model boat, a racing car, wind craft, telescope or create your own unique construction and learn to make it move. Learners will get to make a working model of a sailboat or a wind craft or a racing car through problem-solving and STEM learning (science, technology, engineering and maths).

They will use plastic, thin balsa wood and laminated paper to make a working model. Models will compete against each other and learners will modify their models to increase performance.

Model-making helps develop creativity in science and technology. Learners will take their models home.

All materials provided for student. Please bring a water bottle and a packed lunch.

For children aged 8 - 11 years and a parent or grandparent at no extra charge. Otherwise, children may attend on their own. Please email us at info@selwyncomed.school.nz to specify the name of the adult coming with the child.

Melvin is also teaching Practical Electronics, Interactive Robotic Challenge, Creative Woodwork and Electronics, Flight and Rocketry, Coding and Programming as 2018 holiday courses at Selwyn Community Education. Visit our website or search Eventfinda for details.

Our mission is to provide quality affordable and accessible lifelong learning opportunities for our community.
