Come and behold amateur theatre at it's most raw as an ensemble of both experienced and new, young and old explore modern day issues with a centuries old play - William Shakespeare's controversial but honest and provocative play Measure for Measure.

Set in Vienna, here a celestial, unearthly realm between Heaven and Hell with a strict, holier than thou, law obsessed and pious government, the play explores issues eerily relevant such sexual and religious liberty, issues of personal identity such as sexuality, faith and morals, and what happens when Government tries to influence them.

Discoveries of hypocrisy, self-reflection and manipulation arise when a young man is sentenced to death for committing sin - having sex before marriage. The play focuses on the reactions of the community around him, and their having to choose what to stand for, believe in, and what this sentence means for them.

Combining comedy with drama and celestial fantasy with gritty reality, the play explores questions such as what makes a good ruler, whether or not you should give up your beliefs and values for someone you love, and where we should stand in the line between justice vs. mercy in a tale that both acknowledges and challenges all sides of the argument, wherever you choose to stand.

Measure for Measure opens to audiences on August 7th and runs nightly at 7pm until August 11th. Door sales are available but bookings are recommended.
