The way New Zealand regulates access to medicinal cannabis is going to change. Parliament has just referred a draft law change to the Health Select Committee for public comment. This workshop is being run to support anyone interested in improving access to medicinal cannabis to make a submission to MPs.

Making a submission on the Misuse of Drugs (Medicinal Cannabis) Amendment Bill will help MPs come up with a better law. It will make a big difference when patients, carers, whānau, health professionals and advocates have a say. The public is being given six weeks to submit, with submissions due by Wednesday 21 March 2018.

The half-day workshops will cover:
- A summary of what the Bill says and what the government wants to see happen, and our view of potential issues with proposed changes
- Overseas medicinal cannabis working models, including what is working and pitfalls
- How to make a submission, including presenting to the select committee and issues around this, e.g. privacy issues, dealing with the media.

The workshops are being run by the Drug Foundation in partnership with Medicinal Cannabis Awareness New Zealand and Ora Toa Health Unit to make sure as many people as possible feel confident and well-informed enough to make a submission.

Free to attend. Light lunch will be available.
