While sexual violence has long been an issue, recent events have brought renewed public concern. In Hollywood, hundreds of women have come forward to accuse dozens of men of abuse.

On social media, millions of women and men have stood up using the #MeToo hashtag. While this has broken the silence about sexual violence and reopened conversations about stigmatisation, much more needs to be done in order to respond to this crisis.

Join Bronwyn Kerr (Wellington Sexual Abuse Help and The Church Communities Project) and David Tombs (University of Otago Department of Theology) for an open forum highlighting local responses to sexual violence here in Wellington. (6:30 pm - Refreshments, 7:00 pm - Program).

Bronwyn Kerr is a leader and activist who serves with the Wellington Sexual Abuse Foundation and the Church Communities Project of the Anglican Diocese of Wellington. She provides support and training for leaders responding to sexual harassment, as well as care and support for survivors of sexual violence.

David Tombs is a professor of public theology at University of Otago. His research develops a biblical and theological response to sexual violence, as well as practical resources for church communities in New Zealand and the wider Pacific region.
