Come along to The Third Eye for a cosy Sunday afternoon with MilkThistle - playing their unique style of string-based indie-folk-rock.

Doors open at 3:30. Food and drink available.

MilkThistle was born in 1993, when Hamish Graham formed a merry band of versatile, curious musos to play his original songs. He especially wanted to utilise the cello, for its rich sonority, melodic possibilities and power in the lower register, to complement drums and guitar.

Over the years, the band has spiralled through many Wellington music scene regulars, with the current line-up being:

- Hamish Graham: guitars/vocals (The Shot Band, Hobnail Boots, The Hard Core Troubadours)
- Delia Shanly: drums/vocals (Darren Watson band, Matt Hay & The Makers)
- David Downes: keyboards/bass/vocals (multi-media artist, formerly Mahinarangi Tocker band)
- Robert Ibell: cello (NZSO, Aroha String Quartet, Stroma, Hammers & Horsehair)
- David Daniela: viola (Tofos Greek band, Under the Sun, Dresher Quartet)

Singer-songwriter Hamish Graham looks forward to airing their sounds in this characterful homely venue again. Says Hamish "Rather than traditional background bar gigs, we create more of a house concert feel, like everyone’s in a big lounge. Upstairs at The Third Eye has that perfect cosy vibe – especially good for some laidback Sunday afternoon listening.”
