Come on a rollercoaster ride of original music with MilkThistle playing their unique style of ‘cello based indie-folk-rock.

Milkthistle began in 1993, when Hamish Graham formed a band to play his growing number of original songs. He especially wanted to utilise the cello, with its rich sonority, melodic possibilities and power in the lower register, to complement drums and guitar.

- Hamish Graham: guitars/vocals
(The Shot Band, Hobnail Boots, The Hard Core Troubadours)
- Delia Shanly: drums/vocals
(Darren Watson & The Dangerous Experts, Matt Hay & The Makers)
- David Downes: keyboards/bass/vocals
(multi-media artist, formerly Mahinarangi Tocker band)
- Robert Ibell: cello
(NZSO, Aroha String Quartet, Stroma, Hammers & Horsehair)
- David Daniela: viola/electric violin
(Tofos Greek band, Under the Sun, Dresher Quartet)

Singer-songwriter Hamish Graham looks forward to airing their sounds in this characterful homely venue.

“We don’t perform very often,” says Hamish, “and rather than a traditional bar gig, we wanted this to have more of a house concert feel – like someone’s large lounge. Fairfield House has that perfect cosy vibe.”
