Mindfulness for Change Hui provide a space to embody mindful community and to support each other in creating change in the world.

Whether that's in our family, community, organisation, or on a broader societal level. It's important to start with ourselves, but we can't stop there. No person is an island. Other people are vital for providing support, connections, skills, perspectives, and to share resources.

Auckland Region Hui #2 Theme: Creating and holding space

In our first Auckland Hui, our theme was whakawhanaungatanga: the weaving together of family or relationships. Together we had an opportunity to create our own community and explore how to facilitate more mindful change in our relationships, communities, organisations, and society as a whole. This created a whirlpool of possibilities that left people with strong feelings of wanting more.

This second Auckland Region Hui will be focussing on creating and holding space. It is an opportunity to explore the connections developed in the first hui and bring new energy into the weave.

This hui is a chance to continue bringing each other’s ideas and vision for mindfulness and social change into being.

Guest presentations from Graham Mead and Robin Youngson.

Graham Mead is mostly about "impart[ing] a lucid, practical, non-philosophical pathway to inner work and embodied self-awareness, inspiring and shaping a conscious, purpose-imbued life and restoring harmony to the relationship we have with ourselves and those around us and ultimately our intimacy with change and impermanence".

His session and potentially a further workshop on Saturday afternoon, will be predominantly experiential through "Stillness, breath, movement and various forms of tactile, visual and proprioceptive interactions"

Robin Youngson is a physician and anaesthetic specialist in New Zealand, internationally renowned for his leadership promoting compassion in healthcare. He is the CoFounder of ‘Hearts in Healthcare’, a global social movement for health professionals, students, patient activists, health managers and all those passionate about rehumanising healthcare.

Some of what we'll be doing at the hui:
Hear from you and other hui attendees about what you're sensing, hoping to move into or are already doing to make change in the world through mindfulness

Enquire into possibilities for change we can make in the world together;

Sharing kaupapa which are related to the Mindfulness for Change community such as the “Healing Healthcare”, “Mindful Nation NZ/Aotearoa”, the upcoming NZ Positive Psychology Conference and others.

Practice mindfulness together, personally and interpersonally, formally (through meditation) and informally (through sensing and responding):

- Employ 'Open Space' methodology' to collaboratively create the agenda together
- Enjoy time in the beautiful gardens and nearby native bush of Waitetuna Lodge
- Have quiet time in nature to reflect on the weekend on Sunday morning and sense into next steps
- Enjoy delicious lovingly prepared food that is focused on locally sourced and organic produce all weekend
