On the 10th June 2018, over 30 small production wineries from across the country will be gathered in Auckland for the New Zealand Boutique Wine Festival. Suitable for wine enthusiasts of all levels, this unique experience held at the Imperial Buildings in Fort Lane aims to showcase some of the country’s finest boutique wines.

As well as engaging with the wineries in an intimate setting, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in vertical tastings, attend masterclasses, and experience a lunch and dinner hosted by wine industry leaders.

A highlight of this year’s event will be the Keynote Masterclass led by NZBWF’s official ambassador, Yvonne Lorkin. This Masterclass—‘Wildcard Reds - local versions of foreign legends’— aims to unpack some of the new, groovy and downright different red varietals being grown here in New Zealand.

Another speaker is Jules van Costello—drinks writer, restauranteur, and wine director of Wellington specialist wine shop Cult Wine. In his masterclass, Jules will be addressing 'What we mean when we talk about Natural wine.'

Joelle Thomson will also be giving a masterclass on ‘What’s hot in NZ wine’. She will cover the evolution of Sauvignon Blanc, Albarino, and why some wines succeed while others fail.

Distinguished Sommelier Curtis Marsh will be another special guest appearing at this year’s festival. Marsh has over 35 years experience across hospitality, wine and media industries, working as an Asian correspondent for Thomson Reuters and columnist for the Hong Kong Standard Newspaper and Asia Sentinel. Now based in Wellington, Marsh is the Resident Sommelier and Writer for the Robert Parker Wine Advocate.

At this year’s festival, Marsh aka The Wandering Palate ( will be 'wandering' around motivating the thirst and hunger of attendees.

Vineyards appearing at NZBWF for the first time include:

Blackridge, TerraVin, Mon Cheval Wines, Tantalus Estate, Tironui Estate, Coal Pit Wines, Unison Vineyard, House of Ball, Clos Marguerite, The Bone Lines, Cypress WInes, Greystone Wines, Cable Bay, Kina Beach Vineyard, Johner Estate, Maori Point, Linden Estate,
