Join NZ Barok and recently returned baroque cellist James Bush on an exploration of Venetian baroque music. Witness the verve, style and fireworks of cello concerti by Vivaldi and Platti. Be part of the sparkling energy, confidence and daring of the Italians. Hear the soulful sound of the baroque cello bringing Vivaldi’s intimate and touching slow movement from the B minor concerto to life.

NZ Barok is New Zealand’s only baroque orchestra. Comprising leading baroque specialists from all over New Zealand, NZ Barok performs using instruments and playing styles of the period, breathing fresh life and vitality into baroque and classical masterpieces and lesser-known musical treasures from the 18th century.

James Bush was winner of both the Television New Zealand Young Musicians Competition and the National Concerto Competition of New Zealand.

For the last 10 years he has worked as principal cellist of Al Ayre Espanol, also appearing regularly with Akademie fur Alte Musik, Berlin and orchestras such as Concerto Koln and B-Rock.

​He has been an invited guest principal cellist for productions with the Semper Opera in Dresden and the Palau de les Arts in Valencia. Recent recordings he was involved in have been released by Deutsche Harmonia Mundi (SONY), Naive, Harmonia Mundi, Challenge Classics and Winter & Winter. ​​
