Hamilton City Brass is thrilled to feature guest soloist National Youth Brass Band soprano cornet Patrick Macaskill-Webb. The National Youth Brass Band of New Zealand (NYBB) are travelling to the Gold Coast in January 2019 and funds raised from our upcoming ‘Origins’ concert will go towards the mammoth fundraising effort to get all 35 youth players over the ditch for a seven concert tour in Queensland. Youth band players are returning to their bands of origin and Hamilton City Brass welcome Patrick back as a guest soloist for this special concert.

Patrick first played with Hamilton brass bands at a very young age—first while he was at primary school. Playing cornet, Patrick built confidence in the Hamilton Auxiliary Brass Band and later went on to enter the ranks of Hamilton City Brass. Patrick has now been selected as the soprano cornet player of the New Zealand National Youth Brass Band led by musical director David Bremner. Roughly three years ago, before Patrick went to study music at the New Zealand School of Music – Te Koki, he performed a soprano cornet solo with Hamilton Brass just before leaving to study in Wellington. Now Patrick is very excited to be bringing even more music to play with Hamilton City Brass at this special fundraising concert for the National Youth Brass Band.

Join Hamilton City Brass with special guest Patrick Macaskill-Webb for an afternoon of delightfully varied music—‘Flowerdale’ from Philip Sparke’s ‘Hymn of the Highlands’; the exciting James Bond theme ‘Live & Let Die’; and the beautiful ’In Perfect Peace’ by Kenneth Downie. Other featured numbers include Mikhail Glinka’s ‘Ruslan and Ludmila’ overture and we challenge you not to tap your toes through Lionel Richie’s ‘All Night Long’. Don’t miss ‘Origins’ for an afternoon of fine brass entertainment with Hamilton City Brass under the baton of Glenn Richards with special guest Patrick Macaskill-Webb.
