Stand Up For Cancer Rehabilitation!

The Paddle For Hope at Waterbourne, proudly presented by Starboard, is a fun pink festival of Stand Up Paddling (SUP).

Help us raise some much-needed funds for cancer rehabilitation with this easy charity event where everyone dresses up in pink and jumps on paddleboards for a short teams relay race. No prior paddleboarding experience necessary. Fabulous pink costumes and team attire a must.

The Paddle For Hope is a family-friendly event and includes have-a-go lessons and a fun teams SUP relay where each team member dresses up in pink and completes a 500m lap course close to shore before handing over the board and paddle to their next team member. Entry is $80 for Friends and Family Teams, or $400 for Corporate Teams.

A limited number of stand up paddleboards will be freely available to use on the day, thanks to Pinc and Steel and our lovely sponsors, Starboard SUPSNZ - you can book one with your team registration.

More experienced paddlers can also enter the Waterbourne SUP Events, including the 8km downwind Ocean Clash (Kite v SUP v Windsurf), short course and sprint race events.

Since 2011 the Paddle For Hope has raised $350,000 for cancer rehabilitation, and the Paddle For Hope at Waterbourne aims to raise $20,000. The money raised will pay for New Zealanders affected by cancer to participate in Pinc & Steel Cancer Rehabilitation Trust's PaddleOn Program.

Are you ready to get your PINC on?
Paddle For Hope's main event is a four-person teams relay race, in recognition of the fact that family and peer support is integral to fighting and beating cancer, and that physical exercise is an essential part of rehabilitation.

To join in the Paddle For Hope you don't need to be an experienced paddler. Just follow these four easy steps...

- Invite three mates to join your team:
They might be workmates, family, friends, people from your gym or strangers - it doesn't matter who, so long as on the day you're a team of four.

- Enter your team below and start fundraising:
Register yourself and your team-mates here, then start a team fundraising page on Everyday Hero.

By emailing all your friends and family, asking them to sponsor you, you are helping to reach our total event goal of $20K - supporting Pinc & Steel to help New Zealanders affected by cancer get back on their feet.

- Find a board, paddle & crazy pink team uniform:
You'll only need one board and paddle per team. Buy one, borrow one off a mate or from our event sponsors (just check the box when registering, and we'll have it ready at the event for you).

- Learn to SUP
While the 500m relay course is suitable for beginners, it's always good to have a few skills under your belt to help give you an edge on the competition! Keep an eye on our Facebook page for free SUP have-a-go lessons in Wellington leading up to the event, have a go on the morning before the race, or contact one of our Starboard SUP partners to book a lesson

- Every team that raises $200 or more on Everyday Hero is in to win a Paddle for Hope Astro Touring 11’6x29.5” Inflatable Board, Paddle and Leash. The winning team will be drawn at 1:30pm at the event and announced on Facebook.

- It’s super easy to set up a team fundraising page on Everyday Hero, just click the link below and follow the instructions. All the money raised goes to Pinc and Steel Cancer Rehabilitation Trust.
