Each year over Auckland Anniversary weekend, Ports of Auckland invites you behind the iconic red fence to discover your port from land, sky or glistening sea. Captain Cook Wharf is transformed into a bustling summer carnival with family-friendly rides, tours and day-long entertainment on and off the water.

In 2018, Auckland’s largest, Anniversary weekend event returns to the waterfront bigger and better than ever as the festival celebrates five years!

Sun and sea are the perfect mix for a long weekend, and best of all it's mostly free! Check out the website to see what’s on or this video to learn more:

A place to learn: Ever wondered what it takes to keep the shops full of the things you want and how exports get to the other side of the world so quickly? Or how the Navy protect our country from sky and sea? Come meet our people and maritime partners and discover how it all works.

A place to explore: Explore the port from land, sky or sea. Take a ‘behind the scenes’ look at the port by bus, get up-close to working wharves on a boat cruise, or uncover the inner-workings of some magnificent vessels - including one of the oldest steam tugs in the world! For a birds-eye view of the port, take a helicopter up high above the harbour.

A place to eat: Long days of sun and sea will call for a bite to eat. Pick up something from an array of food stalls across the wharf, find a spot in the shade and enjoy! Ensure you stay hydrated at our refillable water bottle stations.

A place for entertainment: Marvel at our ‘dancing’ tugs and the Royal New Zealand Navy’s RHIB boats as they zip around the harbour, delight in our live ‘info-tainment’ broadcasts on the main stage and screens across the wharf, and as the sun sets on Sunday evening, make sure you stick around for the spectacular SeePort Sunset Symphony & Fireworks with the Auckland Symphony Orchestra and The Lady Killers.

A place for fun: Enjoy free, fun-filled carnival games and rides right next to the sea. Play a few rounds of our ‘supply-chain’ themed mini-golf course or try your hand at scaling a real-life pilot ladder up the climbing wall. Fun for the whole family; both small and big kids alike!
