Off the back of his bestselling book ‘Matariki – The Star of the Year’ and a busy speaking schedule that has seen him presenting to over 5000 people this year alone, Professor Rangi Matamua is giving a free public lecture as part of the Hamilton Public Lecture Series.

His lecture, titled ‘Te Whānau Mārama – The Family of Light’ will discuss new findings covered in his soon to be released book of the same name.

Te Whānau Mārama gives background context to the story of Matariki. It is a story often left out of people’s understanding of creation, and the origins of the world in which Māori live. Te Whānau Mārama is another piece of the puzzle– another narrative that can deepen your understanding and appreciation of Māori Astronomy.
