Shaking out the Best of Fests.

Nearly 50 groups selected from SGCNZ’s 24 Regional University of Otago Sheilah Winn Shakespeare Festivals nationwide will share their highly imaginative and innovative interpretations of the Bard’s works in 5 and 15 minute accessible bites on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 June, concluding with short talks by inspiring SGCNZ Alumni, a showcase scene by a troupe of young performers from Australia and one by our own Donald Trump!

On Sunday evening, members of SGCNZ Young Shakespeare Company 2018, selected from last year’s Regional and National Festivals and SGCNZ National Shakespeare Schools Production week-long intensive, will perform items. This will be followed by modelling of the constructed garments, designed by the finalists of our Costume Competition.

Presentation of their prizes will be made and to winners of our SGCNZ Music Composition, Essay, Static Image, Poster and DVD Cover Design Competitions. Then a variety of awards will be presented to acknowledge excellence and expertise in the scenes. Hon Grant Robertson will kindly be MC for the evening, and joined on stage by several VIPs from central and local Government, key sponsors, SGCNZ Board members and the Assessors and SGCNZ National Shakespeare Schools Production Selectors.

On Monday we are hosted at Parliament for the Assessors' and Selectors' feedback session from 9:30-10:30 am, followed at 11am by one-hour long talk by guest speaker Miranda Harcourt CNZM on her inspirational career. Bookings must be made via the SGCNZ website:
