Join Shed 5 for a series of unmissable lunches, designed around conversations with Wellington's culture makers and city shapers.

Wellingtonians who have changed and enhanced the capital city will speak at a series of lunches at Shed 5 restaurant in the coming months. Fashion, architecture and politics will all be covered in the following lunches:

- Kowtow founder and designer Gosia Piatek: Monday 28th May
- Designer Allistar Cox: Wednesday 20th June
- Mayor Justin Lester: Tuesday 24th July

On 28 May, Kowtow founder and designer Gosia Piatek will speak with Claire Regnault, curator at Te Papa about her career to date, her perspective of Wellington and her love of fashion. Gosia Piatek founded Kowtow in 2007, with a mandate of creating beautiful, wearable pieces made from sustainable, ethically sourced materials. Kowtow clothing is now sold all over the world, and last month the brand opened its first flagship store in Wellington. Gosia currently divides her time between Wellington and the UK.

Wednesday 20th June, Designer Allistar Cox will be in conversation with Chris Moller, an architect in Wellington and also host of the TV series Grand Designs. Allistar Cox has designed many of Wellington’s best-loved bars, restaurants and cafes over the years, including Matterhorn, Ancestral, Mighty Mighty and the Mojo cafes. He’s also worked extensively overseas, with projects in Tokyo, Dubai and Melbourne. Most recently, he worked on a number of the restaurant spaces in Wellington’s Press Hall food precinct.

Tuesday 24th July, Wellington Mayor Justin Lester will be in conversation with Tracy Watkins, the political editor of the Dominion Post. Mayor Justin Lester was elected mayor in 2016, and had a literally shaky start, with the Kaikoura earthquake occurring in his first month in office. This made resilience a top priority for his Council, along with the economy, housing, improving Wellington’s transport, investing in arts and culture and ensuring Wellington becomes the first predator-free city in the world. Prior to entering politics in 2010, he co-founded Kapai, a Wellington food enterprise, and worked in executive management in the private sector. He also served on several boards, including the Wellington SPCA and Wellington Waterfront Ltd.

A special offer of $210 is available for those who purchase tickets to all three lunches. Ticket price includes a cocktail on arrival, entrée, main and dessert.

For enquiries, please contact Astrid or 04 916 4235

If you would like to go along to one lunch, tickets are priced at $80 for each lunch. Each individual speakers series is listed on Eventfinda.
