The Silversmiths’ Guild is one of Ōtautahi’s “old school” vanguard creative hubs. Classes run each term teaching basic jewellery making skills and providing opportunities to expand those skills with further study.

A beginners level one class is on Tuesday nights, intermediate level two class on Wednesday nights, a mixed level class on Thursday mornings and a new advanced level three class on Monday evenings.

Once fully competent in their making skills and use of studio equipment, students can subscribe to be members of the Guild, and for a small fee use the studio facilities during the week under supervision.

Operating for 36 years, the Guild has been energised by individuals with a desire to share their knowledge and enthral new devotees to their art. This exhibition will include work by members, tutors and new intake students. The Guild is excited to be exhibitiing for a second year at the Pūmanawa community exhibition space at the Arts Centre, as this beautiful heritage building continues to emerge from its chrysalis.
