The legendary track will bring out the record breakers.

It's the spiritual home of V8 racing in New Zealand and for the first event of the 2018-2019 Speed Works Motorsport NZ Championship calendar, a host of championship and North Island categories will take on the challenge of the original Pukekohe Park circuit layout, with the fullback straight being used for the first time at a Speed Works race meeting.

Topping the bill will be a rejuvenated field of BNT V8 racers, which will pit the best of the NZ V8 racers against a handful of up and coming Aussie young guns. As well as Fords and Holdens, there'll be raucous Toyota Camry machines and Nick Ross's superb Nissan Altima racer in a field which features two closely fought classes of racers.

Mighty Muscle Cars bring the most exciting V8 machinery of automotive history together for a racing experience like no other in the racing world today. Almost every iconic muscle car in automotive history is represented in the crowd-pleasing series, and we are delighted to have them in our first race weekend of the new season.

The Toyota 86 Championship will race on the short circuit for the first time in a long time, and this time around the championship has its most competitive ever field, with a full field of the country's top young and up and coming racers looking to make their mark and take the next step on their motorsport careers as they hope to be the next Scott McLaughlin, Shane Van Gisbergen, Brendon Hartley or Scott Dixon.

The mighty Pirelli Porsches will be a sight to behold as they scream down the back straight. And in the stunning TRADEZONE GTRNZ GT1/2 field, a new outright lap record could definitely be on at the legendary track in the right conditions with some of the mighty 1000bhp machinery on display.

The slightly tamer, but no less spectacular GT3/4 cars will also provide some great racing over the weekend. The big V8 theme continues with the action-packed Portergroup V8 Utes on the bill, playing out the ever-popular and very Kiwi Ford vs Holden scrap one more time on this fast flowing power track.

Nose to tail action is a guarantee with the SsangYong Actyon Utes, while the NEXEN Tyre Pro 7 Mazda Racing field and the Motul Honda Cup complete the tin top part of the programme with their own blend of JDM style racing. Single seaters are on the agenda with the Hi-Q Components Formula First field once again likely to have the crowd on their feet with its endless racing action over the weekend.
