Music at the Band Rotunda celebrates 10 years of showcasing local talent when the series returns this Sunday (4 February 2018).

Locals and visitors are invited to relax in Government Gardens over the next seven Sunday afternoons (1pm-3pm) and enjoy a diverse range of performances.

The programme features local musicians and groups showcasing blues, country, opera, ukulele, show tunes, and rock’n’roll along with symphonic, pipe and brass bands and much more.

- 11 February – BOP Blues Club & Sunrise Rockers
- 18 February – Art in the Park (10am – 4pm
- 25 February – Rotorua Symphonic Band & Keith, Lyndsay and Friends
- 4 March – The Thermaleles & Rotorua Pipe Band
- 11 March – Finely Tuned & Off Broadway
- 18 March – Rotorua Brass Band & Edward Brothers

Julie Parsons from Rotorua ukulele band The Thermaleles has been involved with Music at the Band Rotunda for eight years and loves it.

“It is a wonderful opportunity for the Rotorua community to come and relax in beautiful surroundings and hear great local musicians” says Parsons.

Guests should bring along their own seating or picnic rug and lay back to enjoy the show. Organiser and Rotorua Lakes Council Public Art Advisor, Marc Spijkerbosch, has enjoyed watching this annual event grow over the last 10 years.

“Many regulars arrive early to secure their special spot and bring along picnics and deck chairs. It is fantastic to be able to showcase some of our passionate local talent in these free performances”, says Spijkerbosch.

Music at the Band Rotunda is brought to you by Creative Rotorua and Rotorua Lakes Council with support from Rotorua Energy Charitable Trust.
