Sunday Poetry Workshop with Nalini Singh

Sun 24 Jun 2018, 2:00pm–4:00pm

Where: The Fringe Bar, 26 Allen Street, Wellington

Restrictions: R18

Listed by: Hugo Grrrl

Join Nalini Singh on Sunday June 24th for this wonderful poetry workshop on Story, Voice, Body and Gaze, touching on kickass writing of a spoken word piece and focussing just a tad more on embodiment.

It'll be fun, interactive and accessible, and especially suited to poets wanting to deepen their performance mojo.

Bring: A poem or two you've drafted already (esp for performance), a poem or two you like by another writer, and a healthy dose of madness.

Just koha on the door.

About Nalini:
Nalini has been writing poetry since age 9, been published nationally and internationally and was the 2010 NZPS International Poetry Competition winner and 2014 Auckland University Poetry Slam Champion.

She founded the Auckland Uni Poetry Society, has co-judged slams alongside Selina Marsh and Australian National Poetry Slam Champ Luka Lesson, and swooned over John Rives, as well as Carrie Rudzinski and Ken Arkind (who she thanks the lord now live in New Zealand!).

Her work has appeared in South Pacific Press, as Feature Poet in the NZ Poetry Society magazine multiple times, NZPS annual anthology, the international Young Writers’ Society and REM the NZ Radioactive Underground Journal of experimental writing.

Before disappearing to the Amazon and Andes for two years, she lurked at the Thirsty Dog on K Road in Auckland, and performed at various social/eco-conscious events such as including Generation Waking Up Global Training USA, EcoFest, Climate Vote Summit, Youth Week, Green Jam, Women's Week, RockEnrol We Will Work With You, Women in Climate Justice and more. Nalini dabbles in music and dance, loves drinking tea and giant beanbags.
