Super Saloon Stampede (Day 2), Easter Champs (Day 2)

When:

Sun 1 Apr 2018, 4:00pm–10:00pm

Where: Central Motor Speedway, Sandflat Rd, Cromwell, Central Otago

Restrictions: All Ages

Easter's Double Header at Heavy Trax Hire Central Motor Speedway continues at 4pm on Sunday, April 1 (we fool you not!). Driving to Queenstown from Wanaka Airport, simply turn left off SH 6 into Cromwell's Sandflat Road at Highlands Motorsport Park (you can't miss the beetle spider), down the hill and you've arrived for an evening of earthbound excitement and action.

If you're on holiday in Central Otago/Southern Lakes and have never been to the speedway, then Easter Sunday is the evening to do it.

But first...

Hey Kids: X Factor Racing Easter Egg Hunt!!!!

Now, just look at what's lined up...
- Super Saloon Stampede (Day 2): - Your big chance to get up close and personal with the 700 plus horsepower methanol gulping, flame-spitting monsters of speedway drive by the South's best. You've not seen anything until you've seen a mob of these low, wide America muscle car replicas trying to get where there's only room for one.

Watch for defending Stampede champ and Cromwell Speedway Club President Daryl Ainsley (5T) and in 34T Ray Stewart, easily speedway's fastest pensioner. If you're from Invercargill or Dunedin you'll have some super fast 'D' and 'I' drivers to support. Be prepared for gobsmacking, hold your breath track action.

- Henry's Easter Champs (Day 2): - This is where drivers of Saloons, Six Shooters, Productions and Youth Minstocks race for the honour of being their class' Easter Champ. You'll be surprised at how fast Six Shooters zoom around the 500 metre Cromwell track and how competitive 12 to 16-year-old Youth Ministock drivers can be.

The fair sex is represented in both those classes. With 19 Six Shooters entered for Good Friday and Easter Sunday, this is Cromwell's biggest ever turnout of these Holden powered open wheelers (also known as Wingless Sprintcars).

Remember, too. Heavy Trax Hire Central Motor Speedway is 'The Fastest Family Show on Earth' where you can park on the natural amphitheatre and look down on the track action from the comfort of your own vehicle. But to get a good spot be there for when the gates open at 2pm. EFTPOS at the gate.

At Heavy Trax Hire Central Motor Speedway there's plenty to eat and drink with hot food, great coffee, Mr Whippy and Clubhouse sausage sizzle.
