This documentary was directed by Paora Te Oti Takarangi Joseph and shot in Aotearoa/New Zealand in 2012. It runs for 65 minutes and is in English and Māori with English subtitles.

"Tātarakihi" tells the story of a ‘journey of memory’ taken by a group of Parihaka children following in the footsteps of their ancestors who were imprisoned in the South Island after the Taranaki land confiscations of the 1860s.

This film is dedicated to the memory of all who have carried the kaupapa of passive resistance taught by Te Whiti o Rongomai and Tohu Kakahi.

The Art Gallery is open from 10am-5pm on Sunday and the theatre door will be open for this event from 1.30pm. Seating may be reserved by request only for those coming from out of town or with mobility issues.
